What happens in Vegas...

The Vegas trip was great. With the exception of the travel woes getting to and from, the city itself is just as magical as ever. We stayed at the Rio for the second time. It's a nice hotel, OFF the strip, which we like. We also had a strip view for the first time. Our first day was spent mostly at the Star Trek Experience at the Las Vegas Hilton. My husband and I are both long time Star Trek fans. My husband was even a bit obsessive in his youth. This ten year long museum and show is closing next month. We timed it perfectly. The day finished with a nap and dinner at the VooDoo Cafe on the 51st floor. We watched the sunset from this panoramic view, Awesome! The next day we just explored the strip hotels and spent a good portion of DH's casino winnings at the Criss Angel store at the Luxor. We are Criss Angel "freaks" in our house. This guys is amazing. We know it is all illusion, but it's still cool. We finished the day swimming at the pool, (adult's only side) which was great and taking in "Phantom", which is the main reason we went. This show was amazing. The special effects in this show makes the Broadway "Phantom" production look like a regional theatre show. Everything from the theatre itself, to the chandelier effects, to the music was phenomenal. Andrew Lloyd Webber himself said he was "gobsmacked" this first time he saw this show. That says it all. Overall, a nice getaway. Thanks to all of the parents who entertained the kids while we did this. From what we can tell, they had a blast.

Alot of people ask about our garden railroad. He it is. It is actually quite a bit more mature than what you see here. This was July 4, 2006.
