How do you sprain your elbow?

For the last week, my left shoulder all the way down to my thumb have been consistently aching and popping. Resting it doesn't help, working it doesn't help, ice didn't really help, heat definitely didn't help. I balked at taking any pain meds since I truly hate taking pain medication and risk any dependency. I finally called and got in to my chiroprator yesterday and she noticed the swelling and my shoulder un-eveness right away. After some gentle massage and manipulation, everything got put back into place. "You are going to be sore" she warned, but said it should feel betting by tomorrow. "You have a slight elbow and shoulder sprain. Did you bump it pretty hard into anything?" Come to think of it, I wacked it pretty hard trying to catch my balance working at our church last weekend. I hit the elbow and grabbed the edge of our old pulpit on my way down. "That would do it!" she replied. The joints are both slightly dislocated and the muscles are in spasm defense mode. They will settle down. I broke down and took two doses of Ibuprofen last night and iced off and on. After going to bed at 9:00 p.m., I slept all night and woke up nearly pain free. Alot of my friends and family give Chiropractors a hard time. I don't know what I would do without mine. I can usually get little things like this taken care of with these holistic treatments and avoid the pharmacy for pain meds and muscle relaxers. I know there are good Chiropractors and bad Chiropractors, I'm just glad I have one of the best! She has also helped my daughters headaches and treated a neck injury on our son last year. God bless her and her gifts!

Alot of people ask about our garden railroad. He it is. It is actually quite a bit more mature than what you see here. This was July 4, 2006.
