Rain, glorious rain

The new cold front finally hit us last night and we had one of those incredible late summer thunderstorms in the wee hours this morning. We opened the blinds in our bedroom and just watched the show. The lightning, the thunder, the rain. Not wind really, just rain. The heat has finally broken for now. We shouldn't get out of the 80's for the rest of the week. I love these storms. They are another reason I love Kansas. Only in the Great Plains do you get these magnificent storms.
30 minutes later from above post: We are now in a full fledged Kansas inland hurricane. Pretty wild how its calm one minute and we are drenched with wind, blinding rain, and now after DH just called some minor flooding. (He called from his cell on his way to work). Pretty wild, "BOOM", we just had a thunder strike that rocked the house. "MOM!" gotta go, the kids need me.

Alot of people ask about our garden railroad. He it is. It is actually quite a bit more mature than what you see here. This was July 4, 2006.
