I'm tired!

Lately, I have been finding myself falling asleep on the couch within minutes of putting the kids to bed at 8:30 in the evening. I have never been much of a night owl, but I could usually make it to 10:00 of so. It has been a pretty stressful week all around. I have had to scrap an entire unit for my Sociology classes after discussion with the Administration due to some local issues. In our pretty peaceful town, we recently had a racially motivated shooting which caused a great deal of alarm and tension among several ethnic groups. This unit I was supposed to close the school year with is on Racial and Ethnic Relations. I really didn't want to touch it and the Administration is backing me. I will teach Global Demography and Population instead. Ok, but this comes with a ton of extra work for me to prepare. On a different note, my husband had to fire one of his senior technicians at work this week after finding out he has been stealing from the company. He has been with them for nearly 10 years. Why would he do this? Alcholism and gambling issues can make a man do some stupid things. My husband has been trying to help him, but apparently he isn't ready and now is facing criminal charges. The good news is, he is ready to hire a new guy recommended by his shop manager. He has a stable work history, a new wife and child and is a volunteer fire fighter. A good background considering this is a family owned company in the fire equipment industry! With all of this and our usual activities, I am just plain tired! Our weekends for the next 5 weeks are booked. We literally do not have a single day with nothing on the agenda. DH will be out of town tomorrow (his annual fraternity golf tournament) , and all of next weekend to see his quickly ailing father in Denver who is suffering from Alzheimer's. After that will be helping my sister and her family move, the kids' dance recitals, and closing out the school year for the kids and me. At least the last two weekends of that 5 weeks we'll be on our cruise vacation. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Alot of people ask about our garden railroad. He it is. It is actually quite a bit more mature than what you see here. This was July 4, 2006.
