Last night the CMT music awards were on TV. We had other things to do last night, so we DVR'd it. Guess what, our DVR was messed up. I was really ticked. We called Cox, had them reset and luckily, it was rebroadcast at like 1:00 a.m. I really enjoy country music. I liked it as a kid, but now I REALLY like it. It's all I listen to. I recently found myself pulling over the side of the road listening to the new song "Stealing Cinderalla" by Chuck Wicks. Chuck sings this song from the perspective of a young man asking his girlfriends father for her hand in marriage. He talks about how the father is reminiscing with him about his daughters childhood and how special she is. I was bawling! I admit it. I knew my emotions put me in a position that I shouldn't be driving. This song is so touching. I heard George Straits latest called "I Saw God Today". Another emotionally charged song that put life into perspective. Given the state of parental advisories on much of today's popular music, I find myself practically banning hip hop from my house. My kids enjoy Little Big Town, King George, Craig Morgan, Trace Adkins, Rascal Flatts, Carrie Underwood, Taylor Swift and so on. I am grateful for this. We actually talk about the lyrics, mainly because we can understand them! There is nearly always a positive message in these songs. What hip hop or rock artist can say that?
