10 places to see before I die.

We are at 28 days until we begin our vacation. We just got our cruise documents and luggage tags this week. As I looked through everything and made note of different things it got me thinking about some of the places I would love to see before I die. Maybe I'll see them all, maybe I won't, but I can wish.

1. Hawaii. We have been trying to get here for years. DH says it will happen, I'll believe it when I see it.

2. London and Scotland. Like the above, my DH has been there and wants to go back. There is so much history there.

3. Normandy, France. Operation Overlord. The turning point of World War II.

4. New Zealand, the beauty is second to none.

5. Germany and Austria. The alps as well as more history. A visit to one of the concentration camps would reinforce the reality of humanity's imperfection.

6. Yosemite National Park and the Redwoods. We were supposed to go there this year, but opted for the cruise instead.

7. Yellowstone and Grand Tetons. Again, the beauty of the national park would be amazing.

8. Alaska. We hope to cruise there also.

9. The Mediterranean and the ports along it. This would be another awesome cruise destination.

10. Rome. The history as well as the Vatican. Very Cool!

I have been very lucky to have been able to seem much of America. Our kids are just now beginning to appreciate the fact that they have seen so much. Our daughter spent much of this school year studying our struggle for independence. She was very proud to say she has been to Independence Hall and stood in the room where our forefathers debated and pondered our independence. She has seen the actual document in the National Archives. She has walked over the threshold of the house George Washington used as his headquarters during the Valley Forge encampment of 1775, and she has seen Benjamin Franklin's grave. Not even her teachers can say this! Even though I strive to see international destinations and history, we still have so much to see and do right here in America!

Alot of people ask about our garden railroad. He it is. It is actually quite a bit more mature than what you see here. This was July 4, 2006.
