What's that track?

While S was out with his friends running trains at this incredible layout in Nebraska City, NE where we have spent the last 24 hours, I got to take the kids for a Tree Adventure at the Arbor Day Farm. You see, Nebraska City is where Arbor Day was founded. This little town of just over 7,000 is famous for this. They pride themselves with being frontrunners in conservation and tree education. We walked the nature path from our hotel to the farm and went on this adventure. E got to look through the book we were given to identify different types of trees and earn his boy scout requirement for this. Another unique feature is that is seems that after they laid the concrete path a few years ago, several animals walked across it before it was completely dry and made tracks. We got to identify pheasant, deer, turkey, squirrel, fox, bobcat, and opossum tracks. It was here, that I realized being part native American really didn't help me with this. I only got two right! Oh, Well. To close out the day, they got to pick apples straight from the trees in the orchard. I never thought that these city kids had little clue that apples come from trees, not the grocery store!
