Today my grandmother, who has been in the hospital for nearly a week had a pacemaker implanted to help her heart keep a more consistent rhythm. After she was brought up to her room, she commented on how it felt like it was 2 or 3 o'clock in the afternoon when it was only somewhere in the 10:00 a.m. hour. She told us how she has been awake since 2:00 a.m. worrying about this procedure. Hospital Hypnosis doesn't just strike the patient. Over the years, my family have spent hours in hospital rooms, ICU's, surgical waiting rooms, etc. We "waiters" get Hospital Hypnosis too. We look out and watch the traffic go by and wonder if it's morning or evening rush hour? What is the remedy? After a scenario like today, all she or anybody wants to do was sleep. But you also want to stay awake to visit with the friends and family who are worried about you. It's up to the patient to say. Hopefully she can get the rest she needs over the next few days so she can get over this Hospital Hypnosis. Given time and opportunity, she should.
