Go west young family!

On May 16, 2009 we will be flying out of the Kansas City airport bound for Seattle, WA where we will be embarking on the Star Princess (see above pic) for an Inside Passage Alaskan cruise. We have been bantering this around ever since we got back from our Bahamas cruise. Do we really want to do another one just a year later? The kids and I were up for it, but was S? He said he didn't want to do another cruise right away. "I said, I didn't want to go to another 'tropical' destination right away!" S told me. Thanks to some good timing again, and nearly one year advanced booking, we got another pretty good deal, and nearly a year to pay for it. I'm really a pretty simple person. I don't insist on a new car every year (our vehicles are 5 and 12 years old), name brand clothes, or fancy things very much. All I need is a comfortable bed to sleep on, a clean well kept home, an occasional turn on the golf course, and my husband and kids, family and my faith. The one "luxury" I am OK with affording myself and the family is that of travel. I have always loved to go to new and exotic places. Just the fact that we have the opportunity to take our kids to some pretty incredible places, makes me feel so blessed. S can't wait to ride the White Pass and Yukon Railroad in Skagway, E can't wait to see a humpback or orca whale, K just can't wait for it all, and me, just give me a glass of wine and a balcony and I'm set!

We had this taken at a family Christmas gathering. Note that by this time next year, K will be taller than me!

Alot of people ask about our garden railroad. He it is. It is actually quite a bit more mature than what you see here. This was July 4, 2006.
