Mother/Son day in review

We had a great time in Wichita yesterday. I had forgotten how easy one child is versus two or more if you include the kids' friend that are usually tagging along on any given outing. We got the dance shoes we were looking for, but the uniform place, (right in the same shopping complex) was closed for pre-season inventory and stocking, bummer. So we went to plan B, ate at Panera and off to the Zoo. I hadn't been to the Wichita Zoo in over 5 years, that means that Eric was less than two years old when he was there. Like he'll have remembered anything! We had a blast. We saw everything, and the weather was beautiful. He especially liked the Humboldt penguins exhibit and the meerkats. I enjoyed just walking all over with my handsome son next to me. He was perfect. Never running ahead, not a whine from his mouth, and we talked about all of the animals. He was especially intrigued with the opposible big toe on the gorillas. They were sitting right next to the glass and we got to see how the gorillas feet are almost like another set of hands. Very cool. Today my nephew is coming over for the afternoon, so the boys will play while I catch up on laundry and housework. I guess every day can't be a trip to the zoo. By the way, the Komodo dragon you see above is the one that made world wide news this spring by producing 2 baby dragons without the benefit of a male, awesome!

Alot of people ask about our garden railroad. He it is. It is actually quite a bit more mature than what you see here. This was July 4, 2006.
