Father's Day wishes

After getting up this morning and reading the USA Weekend edition from the newspaper, I was somewhat humbled reading stories of several military Dads and their kids. The longest my husband and I have been apart since we have been married is 2 weeks. That was before we had children. He used to travel alot for a week or less with his old job that he quit two years ago. One of the reasons he quit was because it was too hard on him and especially hard on the kids to be away so much. He has to travel some now, but not near as much and usually only an occasional overnight. He is generally home by 5:30 and rarely misses one of their events. We are very lucky for this. Too many times, Dads are so pressured by their bosses to come in early, work late, weekends, and to travel. In these uncertain times, and in this day and age, the presence of an active father is critical in the lives of young children. Too many times I have heard stories from students, teachers, and administrators of the "troublemaker" kids and more times than not, they have no father in their lives. It's time to take back our families. It's a difficult balancing act, but it can be done. Happy Father's Day to all Dads out there, especially to my husband, father, and father-in-laws. Thanks to my husband for being a great Dad to our kids and to my father and my husbands Dad and Step-Dad, you guys ROCK!
Also, the pic above is my husband with his new workbenches. Yes, I got them finished, and yes I built the peg board. My daughter organized the tools on the board and in the drawers. He's been spending alot more time in the garage recently! Hmm.

Alot of people ask about our garden railroad. He it is. It is actually quite a bit more mature than what you see here. This was July 4, 2006.
