OOPS!

Last night was our daughter's dress rehearsal for her dance recital. Our dance studio spreads the recital over 3 nights every year, so it isn't a 4 hour recital like all of the other studios in town. For this we are grateful, however, for some kids this means 3 dress rehearsals. The first dress rehearsal was Tuesday night. Our daughter wasn't there. We found out last night she should have been there! (She performs every night since she is in a specialty "Street Jazz" class) The owner of the studio told my daughter she told me about Tuesday's rehearsal. I for the life of me, do not recall this! I have a feeling the girls and their parents were told at their class a couple of weeks ago when we weren't there due to a school conflict. I felt terrible, and Karissa took quite a bit of ribbing from her class mates, but the show must go on. She got to rehearse all four of her numbers last night, and I felt she did fine. I video taped the numbers and she watched them on the way home on the camera. She was nearly in tears. "Mom, I did so bad!" I told her I thought she looked fine for the dress rehearsal. "Just remember to smile, keep your face to the audience, and have fun!" She replied, "I'm concentrating so hard I forget to smile and look up." Our daughter has taken dance for 5 of her 10 young years. She watches the older girls and wants to be them. " Patience", I tell her. "You will be them some day. They have worked really hard to get there and you have to also."
