a busy mom's life: A Happy Birthday Message

This post is specific to our niece, Lauren. She will be celebrating her 9th birthday on Monday. Happy Birthday Lauren, and have a great time. We'll see you in June and we'll bring home something really cool for you from the Bahamas!

The fifth member of our family

This is our dog Kida. She is an 9 year old hound mix. Our vet calls her a breed mystery. We adopted her at the animal shelter two days before she was scheduled to be put down in 2002. She had been at the shelter as a puppy, adopted out, and then came back when she was found as a stray and her owner had moved out of town. She is an amazing dog. I will never buy an expensive pure bred again. She is healthy, (except for allergies), and is a mild mannered people lover. Just don't try coming into the house when we're not home. Ask my brother-in-law from Denver about that one. Kida is starting to slow down a bit. Before long, we will be welcoming a new pup, a Golden Retriever, into our home. We decided to have another pup as experience for our kids in being responsible for a pet and it's care. That isn't to say I'm not really looking forward to having a new "baby". I think Kida is going to enjoy the youth movement. Sure, she'll get irritated at times, but I bet she'l be more active with her around. We'll find out in a few weeks.
