Weekend Reflections

Sometimes it's just good to reflect of the events of the week.

1. You can still be an effective teacher while fighting laryngytis. Despite my condition, the Business Dept. Chair at the high school requested me to teach 2 days of classes in her department this week.

2. My voice is finally back, although I can now sing Bass if I really wanted too. Josh Turner, eat your heart out!

3. Hanging drywall for 7 hours with 6 men is kinda fun. I was actually treated as an equal, and was even asked to consult on problems several times. (One of these men is working on an "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" house this week in Chapman. He offered to get me on, but I just don't think I can work fast enough)

4. Hanging that drywall for 7 hours, however, does leave you tired, cranky, and sore. My right hand is so sore and swollen (from handling the power drill) , it hurt too much to shake hands while "sharing the peace" at church this morning. But showing our progress off this morning to several members of the church made it all worth it.

5. E and S finally went through E's room today and cleaned it out. This resulted in 5 trash bags full of broken, incomplete, and rarely played toys. We can walk into his room, and not step on stuff! For a day or so anyway.

6. Despite S's relief in not being a manager anymore, it was still hard to take all of his personal items out of his office. We have decided to just keep our eye on the prize of more quality family time without the interference of the 24 hr, 7 days a week on call headaches that comes with being a manager, not to mention that he'll only work 40-45 hours a week now instead of 60.

7. Our church hosted a "Bethany Sunday" today which included the Bethany College Choir. S, his sister, and my sister graduated from Bethany. It was a great service with lots of great music and fellowship.

8. My nephew decided to lose a tooth right in the middle of church today. That new cry room with faucet and sink sure came in handy.

9. K tried out for the Salina Juniors Volleyball Club today. There were 28 girls trying out for 18 spots. She looked really good, but we'll have to just wait and see if she was good enough. We should know next weekend after the call backs are complete.

10. All of the laundry is done, dinner is made and cleaned up, the carpet got vacuumed, the furniture dusted, and groceries bought. And it's only 7:46 p.m. on Sunday. Now you know why I lead "A Busy Mom's Life".

Alot of people ask about our garden railroad. He it is. It is actually quite a bit more mature than what you see here. This was July 4, 2006.
