How can you teach without a voice?

Believe it or not, I'm doing it, sort of. I lost my voice last Friday as my sinus infection began draining into my throat and larynx and has rendered my voice practically non-existent. Last week I stayed home 3 days to rest it, but I taught PE on Friday and lost it again. The funny thing, I actually feel OK, I just sound terrible. I started a week or longer assignment Monday for a Business teacher whose wife had their baby lat Thursday. I have been muddling my way through the lessons, and one of the other teachers who teaches the same subject has taken pity on me and is doing most of the lectures for my classes since she is on plan when I have the one class that requires daily lecture. I subbed for her for a week earlier this year while she took a trip. We get along great, and I truly appreciate her help. I finally called the doctor and got on an antibiotic regime which should with time take care of this, in the mean time, I am croaking out instructions. The cool part, the kids actually behave better when they know I "don't feel good". Evening is another story, I spent most of last night on the couch since I was coughing so bad. I crawled back in bed at 3:45 a.m. and did OK, only to have S's alarm go off at 5:30 a.m.

Alot of people ask about our garden railroad. He it is. It is actually quite a bit more mature than what you see here. This was July 4, 2006.
