We are right now in what we like to call "Hell Week", in terms of preparing to open a live theatrical production. S started rehearsing nearly 2 months ago for his role in "Sweeney Todd, The Demon Barber of Fleet Street". He is playing the evil, sadistic Judge Turpin this time around. He has played all types, but he really likes to play these bad guys. Starting last Sunday, he has been at the theatre for nearly 4 hours every night. Last night, he didn't get home untl nearly midnight. Tonight is the Corporate Sponsor night. This is the soft opening. The theatre will probably only be half full of employees and executives of Phillips Lighting, but it is an audience. This is the first uninterrupted run through. Up to now, the director, musical director, tech crew, whatever could stop the show to "fix" things. That can't happen tonight. The show opens to the public for it's three week run tomorrow night. The good part, after Sunday, the cast and crew get three whole days off. This theatre runs dark Mon-Wed, and live Thurs. - Sun. This is a pretty cool show. If you've seen the movie, don't let it turn you off. The director has taken most of the blood and gore out of the show and focused on the humor and the anti-hero tragedy of Sweeney Todd. The theatres websit is
www.salinatheatre.com. They should be posting cast pictures and scene shots in the next couple of weeks.
