Yesterday, I took the day off to drive to Wichita with our "trusty" old 1996 Mercury Mystique to look at trading it in on a car we found at Autotrader.com. I had every intention of negotiating for the first time everything by myself, with no man to look to if the salesman decided to work me over. Anyhow, wouldn't you know it, just as I hit Wichita, the engine started making a weird noise and the car wasn't acting right. Sure enough, the timing belt was nearly gone. So much for being in the driver's seat for negotiations. We nearly had the timing belt replaced last year, but we wanted to hold off. We knew how much they cost. Luckily, the we car we wanted is a good car and I made the deal, minus the cost of the timing belt repair. Oh, well. I drove home in our new "fun" car. A 2001 Chrysler Sebring LXI convertible. Yep, a convertible. I don't think S has ever forgiven himself for selling his MG ten years ago. The kids are older now, and it was time for a fun commuter for him and a fun nice weather weekend car for all of us. Yea, it's older and has some miles on it, but this is a stay around town car. We don't need anything brand new. I'll get a picture taken as soon as I fully detail it with a good wax job and S gets home from his overnighter he left for this morning. Oh, by the way, don't try using the spare key until it is programmed into cars computer with the transponder. That's another story.
The above pic is a stock photo. Our's is white with taupe leather interior and black roof.
