On Saturday evening, a friend of mine called and asked if her son could take our daughter to a movie on Sunday afternoon. They live about 5 houses down from us and this boy and K have been friends for the 4 years since they moved in. This boy, Z, came over the other day and helped me wax our new car. During this time, he and K started planning their "1st date". Apparently, he was working his mom all weekend about wanting to take K to the movie that he asked her to call us to see if it was alright. During the conversation, his mom and I both discussed this situation and decided we really like each others kids and chuckled a little at the proposition of our kids "going out" as they like to put it. This boy was ever the gentleman. He arrived at our house right on time, he opened the car door for K, and opened the door to the mall for her. He is a really neat kid. Whether or not they continue to "go out" for long, it's good for them to enjoy each others company. And if anyone asks, yes, we've had "the talk" with K. She's firm in the understanding that "true love waits".
