It was mentioned to me that I haven't posted a blog entry in nearly 2 weeks. Quite frankly, Facebook has really taken over my "internet posting" therapy. I find myself on Facebook several times a day checking out what everyone is up to. I have reconnected with high school friends I haven't spoken to in 20 years. I have had a blast. Since our last post, some things have happened"
1. I turned 38 on the 26th of June. It was rather uneventful, as I had a wedding to work at church. You see, I am the "Special Events Coordinator". This is a volunteer position since we opened the new building last fall.
2. The kids are participating in golf, tennis, and private academic tutoring. Karissa wanted to keep up with math over the summer, and we have Eric tutured just to keep him thinking about school and to prep for 3rd grade.
3. We have made two visits to the puppies. Karissa seems to think she has one picked out, but they aren't even 3 weeks old. Let's wait a couple of weeks to see their personalities come out.
4. We decided to do another "Independence Day Open House" in the garden. I contacted the Salina Journal to include it in community events for the 4th if they were having a page for that. They ended up sending a reporter and photographer to the house to do a front page feature story. "Holy Cow, this is going to be crazy on Saturday!"
5. We are leaving for Denver on Wednesday for the National Garden Railway Convention. Steve missed this 4 years ago because his boss at the time sent him on a business trip to Oklahoma. Well, he doesn't work there anymore, so we are going.
6. Karissa turned 12 yesterday. She isn't a "child" anymore. It dawned on me when I realize she can't get in to movies for "child" price, order off the "child" menu in restaurants, and so on. She is not a "teen" or "young adult" according to most everyone now.
Anyhow, thats what's been happening in our household. I hope to update again in a few days. Going 2 weeks was a long time.
On the road again....
