K finally went back to school yesterday and seems to be coming back from this crazy illness. She didn't cough all day she said, until yesterday evening and some last night. E is now a Wolf CubScout. He has work all nearly 10 months on achievements to attain his badge and rank, and was recognized with one other boy in his den as having met this achievement. He also helped lead the opening flag ceremony and led the Pledge of Allegiance. He was so handsome in his full uniform, and spoke loud and clear into the microphone with confidence, "Please stand for the Pledge, ..." We also had his Parent/Teacher conference yesterday and he seems to have regained everything lost his 1st grade year and is now looking to 3rd grade at grade, and is even already working in 3rd grade material in Reading Club. When he came into the year still in 1st grade reading level. He actually doesn't even qualify for Reading Club anymore, but he loves it and the teacher adores him, so he is going to stay in for awhile. It has continued to amaze us the difference this new school has made for him. The one thing he continues to struggle with is focus, attention, and dealing with distractions. I hate to think of the diagnosis of "Attention Deficit Disorder", but we may have to explore treatments for this if it will help him focus so he can achieve everything he is capable of. One reading test he did one on one, he tested at the 6th grade level. When he did the same test, being pulled aside while the other students were watching a video he frustrated out at 3rd grade. He just has a hard time turning everything out and doing his own work. We will explore options over the summer. The kids and I have Spring Break next week, and we will be heading to Denver next weekend. Now we pray that the weather holds, and we don't run into any snow out there.
