Back on my soapbox...

The other day I came across Dr. Phil on TV while I was down with my sprained SI. I don't usually take in Dr. Phil, but I taped this one. The title of the episode was "Killer Texting". It covered the dangers of driving and texting or using your phone while you are driving. The current stats say your reaction time goes down 91% when you are texting while driving. It is agreed by all 50 states Highway Patrol organizations that this is more widespread and more dangerous than being under the influence of alcohol or drugs while driving. Yet, only 7 states have made it illegal. We all know how we feel about drunk driving, isn't it about time we did something about "text driving"? I'M FED UP! Yesterday, driving down Ohio street, I saw what I believe to be 3 people texting behind the wheel. One nearly ran a stop light until she hit her brakes. On Dr. Phil, they timed a 21 year old woman texting with both hands for 61 seconds going 70 mph on I-635 in Dallas using her left leg to steer. THAT IS INSANE! PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, don't text and drive. You are driving at 5000 lb. moving projectile. You WILL kill yourself or someone else at some point. I don't care what kind of multi-tasker extraordinare you think you are. And no, I don't text, much less text and drive!
